How A Septic
Installation Goes

Every property is different, but a job generally runs in this order.

01 The call

Tell us about the property: where it is, whether it is a new build or a replacement, and what you know about any existing system.

02 The site look

We walk the property, look at where the system could go and how equipment gets in, and tell you what we see.

03 Permit and design

In Ada County, septic permits go through Central District Health, which evaluates the site and permits the system. Customers describe us handling the permit.

04 Excavation

We dig for the tank, the drain field and the piping between them.

05 Tank set

The tank goes into the excavation and is connected to the house.

06 Drain field

The drain field is built, with the piping set in the trenches the way the permit calls for.

07 Inspection and backfill

The permit comes with an inspection, which customers describe us handling. When the work is signed off, we backfill the excavation.

In Ada County, which covers all three cities, septic permits go through Central District Health. Properties in Canyon County fall under Southwest District Health.

How long does a septic installation take?

It depends on the permit and the site, and we tell you what to expect before we start. Permit review and, on some sites, groundwater monitoring required by the health district can affect when work begins.

Do you work with builders on new homes?

Yes. Builders and realtors send us work on new builds and home sales. We handle the septic, sewer line and water line side so the build keeps moving.

Do you handle the permit and inspection?

Do you do the excavation for the whole build?

Dirt Bros gave me an initial estimate to get started and get the inspector out to the house. After the inspection, Dirt Bros gave me an estimate to replace the drain field at another location on the property and got right to work.
